Parental Notification Policy
The online Student Handbook is produced as a resource for the
students, faculty, staff, and administration of Dickinson College. Content
is subject to change. Please contact the appropriate person or office to obtain
the most current information.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a
federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. There are
times, however, when notifying parents/guardians of dependent students is
beneficial to the college’s educational efforts, and the college reserves the
right to do so. The college may notify parents of dependent students under the
following circumstances: health and safety matter, when a student’s status at
the college is in jeopardy, when student’s conduct impacts the local community
or to notify of disciplinary matters.
