The Diversity Team at Dickinson

Milton B. Asbell Centerfor Jewish Life
The Asbell Center draws together Jewish students from all denominations. The center also welcomes the local Jewish congregation, Beth Tikvah, to use its sanctuary for religious services. The Asbell Center often collaborates with Beth Tikvah to co-sponsor events, including High Holiday services, Passover Seders and other religious gatherings. The Center also partners with the department of Judaic Studies to bring speakers, performers, and other educational programs.  The pursuit of knowledge is one of the central aspects of Judaism, and the Asbell Center offers numerous opportunities for learning. Activities at the Asbell Center teach Jewish and non-Jewish students alike about Jewish religion and culture.

Office of Diversity Initiatives
The Office of Diversity Initiatives (ODI) is a resource center open to the entire Dickinson community and charged with advancing Dickinson's commitment to broadening the understanding of-and building-a pluralistic society that promotes equality and integrity on the campus, in the community, and the world. The office provides individuals with the opportunity to broaden their views and enrich their cultural experiences through participation in diversity programs and training workshops. The office encourages and facilitates activities that allow students to voice their opinions, serve the community and advocate for making Dickinson a place that is reflective and responsive to our campus diversity.

Office of LGBTQ Services
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Office provides a comprehensive range of programming, education, information, and advocacy services. We work to create and maintain an open, safe, and inclusive environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and ally students at Dickinson College.  The Office seeks to eliminate homophobia and heterosexism at Dickinson so that LGBTQQI students and their allies have equity in every respect and are included in all areas of our community.

Office of Religious Life
The Office of Religious Life provides support for students during a time when decisions about life's meaning, living in a community of pluralism, and religious beliefs are explored and shaped.  The Office provides spaces for students to learn about other faith traditions, provides a place for questioning, and opportunities to articulate hopes, decisions, and meaning.  Working with many partners on campus and in the community, the Office is a resource for students (both individually and within groups) to delve into one's religious tradition, practice various new religious traditions, and support leaders of religious groups.  The Office welcomes conversations with students (religious and non-religious) interested in exploring faith traditions.

The Women's Center
Dickinson College opened its first institutional Women's Center in 2008, but the Women's Center has existed in a variety of forms since 1983. Dickinson has been a trailblazer in women's education; female-identified students were admitted to the college in 1884, nearly a century in advance of students at Franklin and Marshall, Princeton, and a host of other top American institutions. Dickinson's pursuit of independence and active learning necessitates that all of our students benefit from the competitive edge of gender-based education. The Women's Center presents opportunities for integrated learning in five key areas: education, networking, leadership, gender equality, and healthy community.

Center for Global Study and Engagement
(Academic Affairs)
The Center for Global Study and Engagement (CGSE) coordinates and supervises all of the college's international programming. All global initiatives are housed under CGSE, creating a vibrant center that unifies academic and administrative efforts. The Dickinson global education model is characterized by sustained, in-depth study; an imaginative variety of opportunities that reach across disciplines; and close integration of study elsewhere with the program on the home campus.
