Outside Scholarship Opportunities
From time to time the Financial Aid office learns of outside scholarships or low interest loan programs for which our students may be eligible. Some scholarship opporutnites are open to all students, while others may have eligibility requirements, such as residence in a particular state or region. Be sure to check back often as new scholarships are posted frequently.

Scholarships for all Students
FastWeb This web site offers an online searchable database of more than 1.5 million scholarships. Used by colleges across the United States, FastWeb is one of the largest, most accurate and frequently updated scholarship databases. If you supply an email address, they will notify you when new awards that match your profile are addede to the database. FastWeb compares your background with a database of awards. Only those awards that fit your profile are identified as matches. Registration with this service enters your name on a mailing list that will be available to companies marketing education products and serivices. If you wish to ensure that your name is not placed on a mailing list, please inform the service as your register.products and services.
The CollegeBoard
The College Board offers an online tool to help students locate scholarships, internships, grants, and loans matching their education level, talents, and background. Complete a short questionnaire to receive a list of potential awards.
Special Interest Scholarships and Loans
The Addison H. Gibson Low-Interest Loan Program
The Addison H. Gibson Foundation lends up to $12,000 to qualified undergraduate students from Western Pennsylvania. These loans carry a 2% annual interest rate until one year after graduation and a 5% annual interest rate thereafter. Regular principal payments begin one year after graduation. Eligibility criteria include long-term residence within Western Pennsylvania; full-time enrollment in a baccalaureate or graduate degree program; at least one year of full-time study completed within the past four months; good academic standing; demonstration of financial need; and existing debt within established Foundation parameters. Applications are obtained during a scheduled interview at the Addison H. Gibson Foundation office in downtown Pittsburgh. To verify eligibility and schedule an interview, contact Lynn Dunbar. Hispanic Scholarship Fund
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund offers a number of scholarships to high school seniors and students currently enrolled in college. Additional information and application links can be found on the organization’s website
Scholarships for Studying in Asia
Freeman–ASIA Scholarships are available to students planning to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia during the summer or 2012-13 academic year. These scholarships are awarded to American undergraduate students dedicated to learning more about Asian languages and cultures. Awards ranging from $3,000 - $7,000 are based on merit, financial need, cost of program, and length of stay. Scholarships for members of the United Methodist Church
A national foundation based in Nashville, Tennessee, the United Methodist Higher Education Foundation is a 42-year-old organization dedicated to helping students achieve their dreams. UMHEF provides scholarship aid for United Methodist students attending the 122 United Methodist-related institutions.
