Graduate & Professional School Overview for Parents
About 18-20% of each Dickinson College graduating class go directly on to grad school; one year after graduation, an additional 10-15% go on to grad school; five years after graduation, approximately 60% have enrolled, according to the latest 5-year survey.
The Career Center is here to help with the entire application process for both students and alumni. We offer information on the general graduate school process, such as a recommended timeline, information on how to find programs, and information for exams and exam preparation. We also review personal statements and other applicati0n materials. The primary resource for students when selecting programs in their field of study, however, is faculty. Students need to work closely with faculty members throughout the graduate and professional school process. Additionally, pre-health and pre-law students should also work with the pre-health advisor and pre-law advisor in the Career Center.
The most helpful resource for parents with a student embarking on the graduate school process would be our graduate school pages geared toward students.
