Jeffrey C. Carey, Managing Director, Native American Banking, Public Markets, New York
Jeff Carey is the senior banker covering Native American tribal governments and their enterprises in Public Markets banking. Highlights of his work in Indian Country include:
- Over $ 10 billion of executed Tribal financing – bonds, bank facilities, direct loans.
- The largest, executed BIA-guaranteed loan and the first loan reoffered in the secondary bond market and receiving a “AAA” credit rating
- Tribal financings involving both taxable and tax-exempt series and senior and subordinate liens
- The second investment grade tribal gaming credit by the largest credit rating agency
- The first tribal bond issue sold with favorable CRA investment eligibility
- Advocacy for Tribes and their enterprises with numerous states, U.S. Departments of Transportation, Interior, and Treasury, and Congress.
Mr. Carey is currently working on financings for numerous Tribal Nations, totaling over $1.5 billon.
Since joining Merrill Lynch in 1979, Mr. Carey has held numerous banking and management positions in Municipal Markets, Project Finance and Corporate Banking. Mr. Carey’s experience includes originating, structuring and executing over $50 billion in tax-exempt and taxable note, bond and refunding financings and derivatives for U.S. governmental units, authorities, agencies and special purpose entities. From 1996-1998, Mr. Carey worked in the Global Infrastructure Finance Group. During 1998 through June 2001 he was the co-head of the Infrastructure Sector of the Global Industries Investment Banking Group. Mr. Carey received his B.A., cum laude, from Dickinson College (Carlisle, PA) and his Masters (concentration in Public Finance), with highest honors, from Harvard University. He is a registered Securities Principal with FINRA and a member of the NBHA

Jeff Carey created Merrill Lynch's practice in covering Native American governments and their enterprises, which today comprise over $ 250 billion in Tribal assets and billions of dollars a year in debt related issuance. He has had five distinct jobs within Merrill Lynch over his 30 year career. Jeff will share his thoughts on networking, exploiting unexpected opportunities, and developing a "self-developed" career to match his "self-developed" major at Dickinson.

Mark D. Tambussi, Senior Vice President and Region Manager – Central Atlantic GE Healthcare Financial Service, Structured Solutions Group, Cherry Hill, NJ
Mark was born in Philadelphia, PA. He attended Dickinson College, Carlisle, PA and graduated with a B.A. degree in Political Science in 1987. He started his professional career with Pitney Bowes, Times Mirror and Colin Medical Instruments, Inc progressing through various Sales and Management roles. In 1994, he joined GE Healthcare as a Business Development Manager in their New Markets Initiatives. He was promoted to Radiology Account Manager in 1995. Mark received his Master in Business Administration from St. Joseph’s University Philadelphia, PA in 1997.
After 4 years with GE Healthcare, he accepted a position as an Account Manager with GE Capital, Healthcare Financial Services. In 2002, Mark accepted the role as the Mid-Atlantic Region Sales Manager. In 2004, he was promoted to Senior Vice President and Region Manager, Structured Solutions Group for GE Healthcare Financial Services with overall responsibilities for Originations, Risk, Operations and Portfolio Management.

Laura G. Kirkpatrick, CFA, Vice President, Marketing & Client Service, DuPont Capital Management
Laura is responsible for new business development and relationship building among institutional pension plan sponsors, consultants and financial intermediaries in the Northeastern US and Canada. Prior to joining DuPont Capital Management in 2007, Laura worked for Delaware Investments as a Vice President, Consultant Relations where she was responsible for new business development and generated multi-billions in new assets during her two-year tenure.
Earlier in her career, Laura held the position of Vice President, Marketing, Sales and Client Services with Brandywine Global Investment Management. There she created and managed a team of professionals providing marketing sales, and client service support and was instrumental to the firm’s growth from $6 billion to $25 billion in assets under management.
Laura received her B.A. in Economics and German from Dickinson College and her M.B.A. from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business. She is a CFA charterholder.

Kathy Clawson , Information Services Director of US Commercial Operations,
Shire Pharmaceuticals Group
Kathy has extensive experience in managing large implementation projects as well as application outsourcing, including offshore work. She is currently with Shire Pharmaceuticals, where she manages US Commercial (Sales and Marketing) Operations as well as serving as interim Director for the International Commercial Operations team. Prior to joining Shire, Kathy was Senior Manager for Accenture Consulting working with pharmaceutical clients.
Kathy double-majored in computer sciences and mathematics at Dickinson.

Diane Sullivan, Assistant Vice President, Healthcare Systems Marketing US Pharmaceuticals, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals
Diane Sullivan has over 20 years experience in marketing, sales management, business development, acquisition integration and strategy in the pharmaceutical, consumer healthcare and technology industries. She presently leads a team at Wyeth in the Healthcare Systems Marketing, US Pharmaceuticals group that is focused on marketing Wyeth products to customers who contribute over 80% of US sales. Prior to joining Wyeth, Ms. Sullivan worked for GlaxoSmithKline in a variety of leadership roles on projects including strategy development and planning for the $6 billion consumer healthcare business, strategic marketing initiatives, the integregation of Block Drug into the Consumer Healthcare business line, and brand marketing for major product lines. Ms. Sullivan began her career at IBM Corporation where she was promoted through six levels of marketing positions over ten years. Ms. Sullivan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dickinson, and majored in French.
John P. Kirwin, III, Founding Partner, co-founded Argosy in 1990 and is responsible for general fund administration, developing and assessing investment opportunities, providing strategic management support and monitoring investments. He previously had a 14 year career as an attorney specializing in mergers, acquisitions and corporate law. For nine years he was a Partner with McCausland, Keen & Buckman in Radnor, Pennsylvania, where he did extensive work on public and private securities offerings, as well as venture capital and buyout transactions. His experience encompasses a successful track record investing in over 70 companies, and includes sourcing, reviewing, negotiating, performing due diligence and monitoring various private investment transactions. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of four public companies. Mr. Kirwin holds a Juris Doctris from the National Law Center, George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts from Dickinson College.

David W. Carlson, Sr. Manager, Managed Markets Practice, Accenture Ltd.
David Carlson has dedicated his career to delivering strategic and business process solutions to his pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients, primarily in the areas of managed markets strategy, contract analysis, and fact-based negotiation. First joining Accenture in 1999, David has consulted for many of the top pharmaceutical and biotech companies on issues ranging from merger integration, pharmacoeconomics, and two product launches in the dyslipidemia space. In 2003, David took a sabbatical to help grow the first venture capital backed Promotion Research Organization, ImpactRx.
David returned to Accenture in the Fall of 2005 to lead initiatives in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology space. Of particular interest is the delivery of unique analytical models that help clients understand the effects of specific contracting decisions on the current and future managed markets environment. A frequent speaker, Mr. Carlson has been featured at events such as the Model N Revenue Management Conference, Center for Business Intelligence Conference, the Annual Association of Medical Publishers Meeting, and an I-many Summit. Also, his article on fact-based contracting investments was recently featured in the May 2008 issue of Pharmaceutical Executive.
David is on the Leadership Team for the Managed Markets Practice and is on point for developing the Strategy component of that practice. David received a B.S. with Latin Honors from Dickinson College with concentrations in physics and economics. He resides with his wife, Genevieve, in suburban Philadelphia.

Wendy W. Kauffman, Director, Wider Horizons, WHYY, Inc.
Wendy Kauffman is the Director of Wider Horizons –one of four content areas for Philadelphia’s public TV/Radio/Web station, WHYY, Inc. She is responsible for the strategic planning and daily operations implementation of Wider Horizons. This past June, Ms. Kauffman produced the show "Smart Women Don’t Retire---They Break Free" revolving around the newly released book of the same title by Rentsch and Millen.
Prior to her work with WHYY, Ms Kauffman was the principal and founder of QRC, a market research and strategic planning business in Bryn Mawr, PA, specializing in the fields of healthcare, pharmaceutical, and non-profit. Earlier in her career she worked as a marketing consultant on Wall Street for the Richardson Group and later with CoreStates Financial Corporation (now Wachovia) in treasury management consulting.
Ms. Kauffman received her BA from Dickinson College with a dual major in International Studies and Political Science. (She attended Dickinson’s Center for European Studies in Bologna, Italy her junior year.) She also holds an MBA fromThe Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She currently resides in suburban Philadelphia with her husband and fellow Dickinson graduate, Fred Kauffman, M.D., and the younger two of their four children.

Beth Wilson is an independent career counselor with over twenty years of experience counseling individuals about career and life decisions. Specializing in career planning and management, she has advised people of all ages from diverse fields and backgrounds. Her experience includes designing and conducting training programs and workshops for corporate, government and non-profit organizations. She speaks frequently on a wide variety of career topics for professional and community groups.
In 2004, Beth earned recognition as a Career Management Fellow from the Institute of Career Certification International, joining only 150 Fellows worldwide who have the required experience and competencies to achieve this designation. As a member of the Board of Governors of the Institute and as a current board member and past co-president of the Association of Career Professionals International, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, she has a strong local and global network of professional colleagues.
Prior to establishing her own consultancy, Beth worked for OPTIONS Career and Human Resource Consulting and conducted career transition workshops for Right Management Consultants on an adjunct basis. She presently co-facilitates a Career Management Forum with the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management. Beth is a Work in Retirement guide for ComingofAge.org and a member of the GetWorks Steering Committee, a job search forum serving Delaware County. She earned a M.Ed. in Counseling from the Pennsylvania State University and a B.A. in Psychology from Dickinson College.
