Congratulations Professor Hamilton-Drager!

Professor Catrina Hamilton-Drager recently had a paper accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal called "Complex Variability of the H-alpha Emission Line Profile of the T Tauri Binary System KH 15D: The Influence of Orbital Phase, Occultation by the Circumbinary Disk, and Accretion Phenomenae".  See link below.

2012 Annual CPC Astronomers' Meeting - Saturday, April 21st

We will be hosting the 2012 Annual CPC Astronomers' Meeting at Dickinson College on Saturday, April 21st in Tome Hall from 8:15am-4pm.   Keynote speaker will be Debra Fischer, Yale University.  Her talk is "The Search for Earths" at 1 pm in Tome 115.  For more information, email hamiltoc@dickinson.edu.

Prof. Jackson - Rush Hour - Thursday, April 19th at Noon

Professor David Jackson will be the Rush Hour presenter on Thursday, April 19th.  His talk is "Sustainability at Home: (Near) Net-Zero-Energy Living" and will be held in the Stafford Lecture Room in the Rector Science Complex.  Free pizza and everyone welcome to attend!

Abstract: Dickinson College just finished a month-long energy challenge where the goal was to reduce the college's energy use by 10% over the entire month compared to the previous year. Come and see how some common-sense planning and modern construction techniques helped a local family reduce their energy consumption by approximately 90% annually.

Astrofest - Saturday, April 14th - 6:30-10:30 pm - Tome Hall

Dickinson College's Astrofest Club will hold "Astrofest" on Saturday, April 14th from 6:30-10:30 p.m. in Tome Hall.  For more information, email astro@dickinson.edu.  Event is free and open to the public.

There will be several planetarium shows:
6:45 p.m. - What's Up in the Sky
7:30 p.m. - Tour of the EM Spectrum
8:30 p.m. - What's Up in the Sky
9:15 p.m. - Mythology Planetarium Show (PG-13 version)
If the weather is not good for observing, we will offer planetarium events later in to the evening.

There will also be Physics & Astronomy Demonstrations from 6:30-8:15 p.m.:
Moon Phases, Glitter Galaxies, Make Your Own Rocket, Spectroscopy, Trivia and Snacks

There will be Roof Top Observing from 8:30-10:30 p.m. (weather permitting).
