Holocaust Rememberance Day - April 18 2012

 Permanent link

The annual Holocaust Remembrance Day service will be held on April 18th at 7pm, Memorial Hall in the Old West Building, Dickinson College. This interfaith service is a somber reminder of the loss of innocent life of Jews and others during the Holocaust in Europe in the years just prior to and during World War II. The service is in memory of those who died at the hand of intolerance and hatred, in acknowledgement of those righteous persons of all faiths and backgrounds who opposed the Holocaust, and a reminder of the danger of silence so as to prevent such events from ever occurring again.

Our speaker is Hilda Mantelmacher, a native of the former Czechoslovakia. She is a Holocaust survivor and a member of a dwindling group of eyewitnesses to the genocidal atrocities unleashed by the Nazi regime.

The service is co-sponsored by Congregation Beth Tikvah, The Carlisle Area Religious Council, and Dickinson College Hillel and the College’s Milton B. Asbell Center for Jewish Life.

Evening of Sacred Music

"Evening of Sacred Music: Modern and Historical”

On May 5th the Dickinson Catholic Campus Music Ministry is presenting a liturgical music concert at 7:00PM at St. Patrick’s Shrine Church (140 E Pompfret Street).  This concert is reminiscent of the sacred music legacy, which once existed in Carlisle through the work of Rev. Henry Ganss, pastor of St. Patrick’s from 1891 to 1910.  Father Ganss was an avid composer and promoter of liturgical music.  Please join us in reviving the legacy of sacred music in Carlisle!  There will be a reception to follow.
