Celebrating Student Scholarship in Psychology

On Thursday, May 5, students will present the results of their research at the annual Celebrating Student Scholarship in Psychology event.  Stop by the Kaufman lounge at noon to view posters and ask questions about students' studies.  Then, at 12:30, Psi Chi inductions will take place in 179.  Enjoy some lunch and cake, and support your peers!

Psychology majors presented research results at the first annual Health Studies research symposium on Friday.  Professors and students enjoyed seeing and hearing about the latest work in health-related research at Dickinson.

Psychology majors make good employees!

During National Student Employment Week, the Career Center sponsored events highlighting the exemplary work that student employees do on campus.  One such event included the awards ceremony for Student Employee of the Year.  Of the 11 students nominated for the award, four were psychology majors!  Congratulations to Esmeralda Alvarez ’13, Florencia Cabral ’13, Alyssa Compeau ’11, and Caroline Fortin ’11, all of whom were recognized for their work ethic and skills.  Read the complete story here.

Next Thursday (4/28) at 5 pm in Kaufman 159, a presentation on graduate school admissions in psychology will take place.  Come and see an explanation of the ins and outs of the admissions process, and bring any questions you may have about decision-making or the process itself!

Senior Research Symposium

Alyssa Compeau, a senior psychology major, will present  "The Secret Life of Fat Talk: Consequences of Normalized Conversations of the Body" at the Senior Research Symposium.  Come to the Stern Great Room on Thursday, April 28th at noon to hear Alyssa and three other distinguished seniors present their research results!

 The Yale Review of Undergraduate Research in Psychology, a student publication of Yale College, is now accepting submissions from undergraduates for the 2011 edition of our journal. 

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: APRIL 21st 2011. 

The Yale Review of Undergraduate Research in Psychology is an annual journal that showcases the best and most original research in psychology conducted by undergraduates from around the world. Our goal is to contribute to the scientific advance by encouraging serious, quality research early on. We provide a platform for undergraduate scientists to share their findings, and aim to bring together a community of young psychologists from both the United States and abroad.

Psych students to present research at ROWGS symposium

Two senior psychology majors will be presenting the results of their respective independent research projects at this year's annual Research on Women or Gender by Students (ROWGS) symposium.  Kelsey Power will present her research on rape myth acceptance and sexual compliance, and Alyssa Compeau will present results of an experiment on women's normative behavior.
