Department of Geology now the Department of Earth Sciences!

It's official....

The Department of Geology has now changed names to the Department of Earth Sciences.  In an effort to more accurately reflect what we do and the direction we're heading, it was decided that along with curriculum changes, the department should adopt a name change as well.  Starting tomorrow, April 8, we will now be officially recognized as the Department of Earth Sciences!!!

Potter Lecture Announced!

John Eichelberger from the USGS has the honor of serving as the 6th Potter Lecturer.  John will be giving two talks with the first scheduled for April 22 @ 7:00 p.m. in Denny 317 and titled "Volcanoes as Geysers" and the second scheduled for April 23 @ 12:00 p.m. in Kaufman 179 and titled "Of Dikes and Magma Chambers:  The Great Katmai Eruption of 1912".
