Methodist Church, West Virginia Conference
What I love most about
what I do: Those moments when, through God's grace,
I am able to bring hope to those who feel hopeless and bring value
and honor to those who feel they don't have worth.
The most challenging
part of my work: Helping people to see what is
possible! It is challenging and exciting to help move people beyond
fear and see what is possible and how we can move into an exciting
How Dickinson prepared me for what I do: Dickinson helped me to identify human
experience in terms of a God of both reason and faith. My heart,
soul and mind were enlightened—not just my academic
How I chose Dickinson: Dickinson offered me the variety of
opportunities; I wanted not just an academic education but an
opportunity to be involved with music, theatre and social
activity/organization at Dickinson: The Chamber
Choir. I enjoyed the music, the challenge and the friendships.
What "seek connections"
means to me: To seek life, hope, energy and
abundance in ways that move this world into a better way of being
and doing for all people, not just for a few.
Favorite place on campus: My
favorite place on campus was wherever my friends were. I enjoyed
classes. I enjoyed the social life. I enjoyed the
music, theatre and arts as a whole.
Accomplishments I was most proud of
at Dickinson: I am most proud of graduating cum laude, ODK [the Omicron Delta Kappa national leadership honor society],
the pottery that I created and showed as a result of a pottery
class I took while at Dickinson, the performance of "The
Gondoliers" and all the choir and chamber choir performances.
Accomplishments I am most proud of
today: I am proud to be the mother of two outstanding young
adults, Sarah and Becky Ball, and I am proud of being elected as a
bishop of the United Methodist Church on Aug. 18, 2012, and being
consecrated two days later.
