Oxford University Scholars in Biomedical Research
About the program
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) established Oxford
University Scholars in Biomedical Research program in 2001. Students enrolled
in the program have the opportunity to work with two different research
supervisors, one at the NIH intramural campus in Bethesda, Maryland, and one at
Oxford University. Scholars partake in research in pursuit of earning a
doctoral degree. Within the program, students develop their own research
proposal and personalized plan of study with the help of their advisors and
mentors.
The student’s scholarship is funded by their NIH mentor.
This scholarship funds the student’s stipend, medical benefits, and travel
expenses for four years of the program.
Who should apply
Students pursuing a doctoral degree who are interested in undertaking a
collaborative research project in any area of biomedical investigation are
encouraged to apply. More information about the program and applying
can be found on the NIH website.
