Fellowship Advisors Contact Information

The Dean of Advising coordinates Dickinson's efforts to recruit and nurture potential fellowship applicants.  Near the end of the fall semester, the Dean of Advising will ask the First Year Seminar instructors/advisors to identify 2-4 outstanding students in each seminar.  The basic criteria being used is related to students who are articulate (written and verbally) and who can think beyond the obvious (“outside of the box”).  These students will be invited along with others (who have been identified through other means) to information sessions about external fellowships and graduate school awards in the spring term.

Although there are very few programs appropriate for which First-Year students can apply, successful applicants for these programs (like Fulbright) must be using their time wisely throughout their college years to be viable candidates in their senior year.  In addition to participating in “alternative” spring break and other volunteer opportunities during the school year, important connections can be made during the study abroad year that can be used to support and strengthen most applications for fellowships and prestigious awards.
