KDP Literacy Alive! Photo Gallery

Literacy Alive! is an event to promote a love of reading with elementary school students. This year Kappa Delta Pi teamed up with Child Time SAC, an after-school organization in Carlisle, and worked with twenty kindergarten through fifth grade students. Our event was focused on the 2012 presidential election and the importance of voting. For the kindergarten- second grade students we read the book Duck for President and did hands-on activities with the students including: “parts of the story” relay, word scramble, design your own campaign buttons, and mock election. With the older students we read the book So You Want To Be President and afterwards the students tested their presidential knowledge with a trivia game, made their own bumper stickers and also got to vote in a mock election. Through this event we promoted the importance of reading and voting and had fun at the same time!
