Commencement Weekend May 15-17, 2009 - Student Speeches

Can one person truly make a difference? Are Dickinson graduates prepared to meet the challenges that await them? What, exactly, does it mean to “engage the world?”

These are the central questions addressed by student speakers during the 2009 baccalaureate ceremony.

As they reflected on the life-lessons they’ve learned during their four years at Dickinson, Mofeyisayo Ayodele, Jeremy Pesner, Caitlin Rice and Hannah Hutton offered personal insights on what it means to be a Dickinsonian: to nurture curiosity, passion and awareness; to become involved in one’s local community; to immerse oneself in foreign cultures; to wage war against injustice.
